On Book 2 with my e-Reader when the battery failed with only 50 pages to go! I'm seeing a trend developing and I don't like it. This time, I plugged in so I could finish without losing the flow of the novel. Another thing I've noticed is that I can't tell if I'm in the middle, two-thirds or whatever of the way through the book because it doesn't change with the left side growing larger as the right side depletes. It's not a major thing, but seems odd to have to look at the page count to see if I'm getting close to the end. P.S. With all this "testing", I'm not doing much writing. |

Hi Tammy,
just came from Nathan Bransford's page, where you "advertised" you blog regarding the e-reader experience.
I find it quite interesting, and find it great that you at least gave it a try. However, I feel your're not comparing "fairly", as you put e-reading at a disadvantage by using a lesser candidate.
While I understand your not wanting to invest too much on an e-reader, I think most of your possible "down" experience (short battery life, problem with gauging your advance) would have been avoided if you had instead invested in one of the "good ones" : Nook, Kindle, Kobo, Bookeen, Sony...
In addition to the problems you noted, the e-ink in itself greatly reduces eye-strain (with the problem of needing light), and makes for a better reading experience.
Perhaps you could/should try and change to one of the better models at the middle of your experience ? Don't know how if could work financially though. If I were not at the other side of the world, and so in love with my Nook, I would gladly lend it to you for such a test...
